Pond Waterfall

The Pinnacle Feature of a Pond

If you have a water garden or fish pond why not consider adding a waterfall, often considered to be the pinnacle feature of a home pond. Having a pond waterfall will enhance your pond not only by their wonderful appearance, but by the very nature of the added elegance and relaxation to be had in having one. Not only would you have these benefits, but by having a pond waterfall, it also creates aeration into the water. By keeping the water oxygenated, water high in oxygen helps fish (particularly Koi or goldfish), along with the plants you may have in your pond thrive and also maintain and promote good health. It also helps to keep mosquito's at bay and significantly reduces stagnant water and algae.

Adding a Pond Waterfall

You may want to add the waterfall yourself.  Like most home DIY ideas, including build a pond waterfall, they should be planned and practical.  Try not to allow your imagination to run away with great ideas for the project, remember that the larger the pond waterfall you require, the greater the circulation and volume of water.  This will determine the size of water pump you will need to fit.   There are two main areas you will need to focus your attention on, 1. The overall size of the pond and 2. The structure of the cascading waterfall.  So be sensible during your planning, even though it requires some creative imagination and patience, take into account the direction to gain the best appearance and position from your home, spend some time with this and it will be well worth it.   Mistakes often made by people building a pond waterfall are failing to keep both the pond and the waterfall in proportion to each other.  Having a plan worked out and building the waterfall will prove to be a rewarding and enjoyable venture.  A pond with a waterfall is one the best improvements you could make to your home, giving your property added value.

A soothing Waterfall

If you are planning to build a pond yourself, you could consider buying a kit from a reputable dealer.  A kit makes it easier to start the construction of your waterfall. A waterfall does not need to be of a very large size.  Don’t forget, the larger the waterfall you may plan to have will increase the amount of work involved and expense.  Having a large or small garden or backyard, a large or small waterfall, you will enjoy the pleasing and soothing sounds of the cascading falling water, giving a nice rippling effect with bubbles across the surface of your pond.  You and your family and friends will enjoy many hours beside your mesmerizing and beautiful feature.  A dazzling fulfilling retreat you would not wish to be without, especially if you have to unwind from a stressful job.   You could take your enjoyment into the evening by introducing some creative lighting to finish it off.  It’s interesting to watch fish swimming around in the dark.
